Assessor Comments
Annual offering of the Markey 1st cross lambs with the lead presented now . The vendors weaned these lambs early August and then decided to shear them to take advantage of the good season and continue their upward spiral. They are consequently well grown for their age ( just over 4 months) and are ideal lambs to take advantage of the season and fatten. The vendors are regular clients of Dunneild Border Leicester stud and regularly by the large framed Riverina sheep needed to produce the export type lambs required. Some of these lambs had a slight amount of weeping around the eyes only due to dust in the cropping paddock where grazing. Majority assessed were 2 scores verging on 3 showing they are on an upward plane after shearing. These lambs should grow into large framed wethers that should suit most trade or feeding operations. A large tail has been taken out. They weighed from 30k to 49 k to average 38 kg after 3 hours. Approx 10% have horns.
