Assessor Comments
A TOP QUALITY, VERY EVEN LINE OF POLL DORSET CROSS WEANED SUCKER LAMBS, WITH GOOD WEIGHT, AND PLENTY OF SHAPE. THESE YOUNG LAMBS ARE IDEALY POSITIONED TO UTILISE EXISTING ABUNDANT SPRING FEED, FOR EITHER A SHORT TERM TURN-AROUND INTO SPRING TRADE MARKETS, OR CARRY OVER A LITTLE LONGER, TO REALISE THEIR FULL EXPORT WEIGHT POTENTIAL. MAJORITY OF LAMBS ARE CARRYING A 60mm SKIN, AND THOUGH THEY ARE STILL DISPLAYING GOOD FRESHNESS, WOULD BOUND AWAY IF SHORN IN THE NEAR FUTURE, WITH ACCESS TO CONTINUED QUALITY FEED. THESE LAMBS HAVE BEEN IMPRINTED ONTO GRAIN WITH FULL ACCESS TO BARLEY GRAIN SUPPLEMENT IN SELF-FEEDERS, MAKING THEM DESIRABLE CANDIDATES FOR A POTENTIAL FEEDLOT OPERATION, BY MINIMISING INDUCTION TIMES. THESE WEANED SUCKERS REPRESENT THE TOP DRAFT OUT OF 600 IN THE MOB, AND WOULD FIT ON A LONG (47-48FT) 2-DECK SEMI-TRAILER. A COUPLE OF LAMBS NOTICED AT ASSESSMENT WITH MORE OPENNESS AROUND THE FACE, LESS CHARACTERISTIC OF THE BREED.
