Assessor Comments
A smaller line of good quality middle aged merino ewes scanned 126% in lamb to GILMORE Poll Dorset rams, to start lambing late March for 6 weeks. Ewes are medium to larger framed, plain-bodied types ideally suited to XB lamb production. Ewes are in good health, though some ewes are lacking a little condition due to a small percentage of ewes in the mob having previous drop of lambs recently weaned off them. These ewes are at the height of their productivity and present an excellent opportunity to capitalise on a favourable buyers market, by lambing down a good percentage of Poll Dorset cross lambs, due on the ground in around 6 weeks time. A couple of ewes present as slightly tender in the feet. Another lot of rising 6 year old SIL Merino ewes are also being offered this sale as part of a restructuring of operations by the vendor. Ideal ewes for a quick trade, as a cost effective way to secure quality XB store lambs, or alternatively, retain for years of production as quality breeders.
