Assessor Comments
An excellent quality line of Poll Merino x Poll Merino/Bond ewes, 3.7 and 4.7 years old. Ewes are Almondvale Poll blood, with the vendor regularly purchasing the top priced ram at the Almondvale ram sale. They have been bred from a base flock of Bond genetics, with these ewes being the 2nd generation of Poll Merino genetics. Ewes display large frames, deep barrels and plain bodies, presenting as an ideal type of ewe to breed a quality crossbred lamb. These ewes are scanned in lamb at 140% to top Almondvale White Suffolk rams, due to lamb from early May for 6 weeks. Vendor has been shearing ewe flock every 6 months. These ewes would normally be retained to breed crossbred lambs, however vendor has leased out some country and is reducing sheep numbers. A fantastic opportunity to purchase quality ewes in the prime of their breeding lives and with a high percentage of lambs on the way. Noted approx. 15 ewes with longer toes due to running on soft country, not detrimental to their movement.
