Assessor Comments
This is a line of 210 Vendor Bred Sound Mouth ewes comprising 59 Black tag 2016 drop ewes, 120 Blue tag 2015 drop ewes and 31 Red tag 2014 drop ewes. These ewes had lambs weaned off them about 6 weeks ago and were mouthed as sound and bag checked at shearing last week. The vendor is a very astute sheep producer who aims to produce plain bodied sheep with minimal wrinkle that cut large quantities of wool with highly productive breeding rates.
Each year the vendor scans his ewes pre lambing, with the empty ewes removed. This season the vendor weaned 131% lambs across the entire flock of black/blue/red tag ewes.
The vendor annually produces top end 1st X ewes for the Ballarat Premier 1st X Ewe sales, which are the progeny of these ewes.
These ewes are easy care Merinos that would be suited to either a crossbred operation or Merino operation.
