Assessor Comments
A good quality line of rising 6 year old ewes, SIL to Ashbank White Suffolk rams, to start lambing around mid-May. Ewes are predominantly fresh in the mouth, however, approximately 15% of the ewes sampled are starting to break, as represented in the photos. These good to large-framed ewes have proven to be very productive for the vendor, raising a good percentage of top quality FX Border lambs at last joining. Last years July/Aug drop lambs were weighed last week, weighing in at 60-88kgs, to avg 66kgs at 9 months of age, demonstrating export weight potential, in the the White Suffolk lambs currently being carried by these ewes. Ewes have a very good start in the jacket with a good 48mm skin, offering a potential rebate to the purchaser in as little as 3-4 months. This, combined with the prospect of very good quality, export weight potential lambs due to hit the ground in around 5 weeks, these ewes present a very sound opportunity for a short-term, profitable trade, for those with feed.
