Assessor Comments
A very even line of 5.5yo ewes. This is the lead 300 from a total of 390 ewes in the original mob.
The Karana flock aims at ewes that are large frame but carry a very appealing white long stapled wool that handles the wet winters of their region. The ewes carry length & bone & a plain to slightly wrinkled skin.
20% of the draft were weighed and mouthed. They are very even in type and their mouths are 90% full and complete and 10% missing 1 wing tooth. Of the ewes mouthed none were considered to be broken.
The ewes are of sound confirmation, with a small percentage appearing slightly long in the hoof, which is consistent with the softer country that they are run on.
These ewes consistently produce healthy lambing percentages and are ideal for the purchaser to either mate to Merino or Terminal sires and at the same time cut a very high quality fleece of wool in 12 months time.
