A number of heifers were agitated in the crush/weighing area and I'm sure recent pregnancy testing didn't help their attitude to that area of the yards. A percentage of the heifers were agitated in the yards but the majority settled somewhat once let in to the holding paddock for media (see video's). As a mob they do have a bit of run in them, but yards at Mawarra are noisy and not as user friendly as this operations other handling facilities on their main property.

Heifers that were originally retained and joined for the Spring calving program, but a bull breakdown gave these girls another opportunity to the bulls and they were joined on 9th April for a tight 6 weeks to commence calving January. Selected calving ease Jarobee Angus bulls were selected being sons of calving ease sires Pathfinder Magnum and Coonamble NicNat to facilitate this joining. Bred out of generally large framed roomy females carrying Ardrossan, Hazeldean and Jarobee Angus bloodlines with the herd being Greenham Never Ever accredited. Noted approx 4 heifers with white on udder/flank/navel. Heifers present generally in fresh store to forward store condition.
