Temperament not assessed in Paddock
Steers were very good to handle in the yards. All were very quiet while in the race and crush and they border on being classed as docile. One steer became slightly agitated in the crush when being mouthed and exited quickly. All settled once back in the yard together and all remained quiet when being photographed. The vendor runs a cell grazing operation and steers are used to electric fences. Vendor handles stock using Low Stress Stock techniques.

Assessor Comments
A fair to mostly good quality line of Shorthorn and Shorthorn Cross EU accredited steers. These vendor bred steers range from 3% small, 31 % medium to 66% large framed and they suit to take to the heavy end of EU export feeder weights and then finish for a range of grass or grainfed markets. They also suit to take directly onto feed for the domestic market. All 35 steers mouthed at assessment. 30 good solid milk tooths (see photo). 5 head were still technically milk tooths but showing either significant wear or missing a few milk tooths. The steers were yard weaned in May 2024 using LSSH techniques and have been treated with two 7 in 1's, two Pestigard injections & a Mulitin. Please note six steers have slight blue eye in one eye while one steer has a moderate blue eye spot in one eye. The black steer with horns in the photo was tipped post assessment. They have not had access to grain and are eligible for a range of grass finished programs. Assessed LWR 285 - 388 kg.
