Temperament not assessed in Paddock
Calves have been weaned 4 weeks at assessment date and were a pleasure to draft and assess. Walked through the race and stood on the scales with a minimum of fuss. Exited the crush in a calm, steady fashion. Walked quietly back to their paddock once let out of the yards. Vendor commented on how quiet they were at weaning.

Assessor Comments
Second draft of the Darlow Family Steer Weaners. Annual offering of heavy boned, Hicks ABC Composite Steers that offer the best of both worlds with the majority carrying the black coat and all the Hybrid Vigour of the Hicks Beef Composite blood to give them that extra punch. Steers have come through a very tough, trying winter/spring period with limited growth and weaning weights are well down on previous years but still have the breeding & frame capacity to make great kill or feeder bodies. Well bred steers that will perform either on grass or grain. There are 47 x Black Steers & 1 x Red Steer in the draft and all calves show good muscle development, bone and softness. Vendor can provide a PCAS Non-Certified Supplier Declaration on request for 47 out of the 48 head, 1 steer has had an antibiotic treatment. There were 4 Steers noted with old Pinkeye scarring, see photos for examples. Vendor also has a lead draft of 67 steers in this same sale to make up a B-Double of 1 mark calves.
