Assessor Comments
On offer is a excellent run of the Dawes Family 1st X ewes. This is the 3rd draft of 100 out of 780 March/April 2025 drop ewes on offer. The Dawes family have been breeding 1st X ewes for over 57 years since the inaugural Forbes 1st X Ewe Sale and have been sourcing their Merino ewes from the Hay district each year. They have also been purchasing top Quality Border Leicester rams from Glamis stud. Considering the tough season in the district, and that they have only been on grain for the last month, these ewes show excellent growth, frame and stretch. They also show top characteristics of trueness to type in the 1st X breed. These ewes would bolster any 2nd X breeding operation. All health treatments are up to date. Ewes have also been OJD vaccinated (Gudair), market crutched and EID tagged for extra buyers confidence.
