Temperament not assessed in Paddock
These quieten down very well since weaning commenced with all the bellowing for the cows pretty much gone. Most handled very easily at assessment through the crush & in the race however there were the odd few that were a bit keen in the race. They had never been through the race prior to assessment, and they behaved like they had been up there numerous times. Very quiet out in the bigger yards when being photographed and videoed. They do respond well to bikes and dogs in the paddock.

Assessor Comments
Buyers, a line of Red Angus heifers PCAS ELIGIBLE that are surplus to further breeding requirements. These will suit restockers to grow out and background for domestic feeder markets. The hard work of breeding and weaning them has been done. Heifers very clean in the muzzle with no nasal discharge that is sometimes prevalent in weaners at this time of year indicating good health. These bred on lighter country, history would suggest they will really hit their straps if they are exposed to crop or winter herbage on heavier improved country. These a little lighter than last year but the season was tight when they were calved but show limited negative sign of growth as a result, maybe only 5-6 head a bit drier. It is probably human nature when selecting the replacement breeders to pick the more growthy heavier heifers as they are generally easier on the eye, however it must be noted some of these are probably just the younger end or out of a first calf heifer but still genetically sound.

Grazing Conditions
Bred in traprock country and currently have access to a good body of summer grasses that still has plenty of green in it from a very good summer season. Still in the weaning process and being fed good quality hay in the yards.
Returned to: Will remain in yards and/or holding paddock on hay until delivery.
Vendor Comments
The annual turnoff of excess weaner heifers. The season was fairly tight in the later half of 2023 as as such are lighter than last year. There are possibly 5-6 that look to have struggled slightly but that could be a result of being a heifers calf.
